Hi, my name is Joanne Blackman and I am a professional, full time,  York Wedding Photographer.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to visit my website.

I am not the type of wedding photographer who will whisk you away from your guests for hours on end. As lovely as I am, you don’t want to spend all day with me! You want to spend your wedding day with your family and friends. In between the significant parts of your day, like the ceremony and your wedding breakfast, I will ask your permission to 'borrow' you from your guests for a quick photograph or two before delivering you back to continue enjoying your time in the spotlight. I don't spend hours posing you, instead I try to make it fun so the pictures really represent the real couple that you are.

I work hard to capture all the details, emotions and significant moments of your day, as a female wedding photographer, I can appreciate just how special all of those things are to you both!

I have been a professional photographer for over 20 years now, 6 of which were spent as a photographer in the Royal Air Force. I received the best training ever in everything photography, including dark room processing to digital manipulation, photographing everything from plane crashes to parades!

After leaving the RAF, my husband and I concentrated on starting a family and relocating back to my hometown of York. Once our daughter was born my thoughts returned to photography and my love of creating images that you will treasure and will want to share with friends and family. As a female wedding photographer I feel I bring so much to your day. My dream is to photograph your special day in such a way that we will become friends, forever!

Many months in the RAF were spent learning the technical side of photography, however many years were spent mastering how to work with people, a vital skill for any professional female wedding photographer. Having photographed everything from groups including 300 servicemen, award ceremony's with dignitaries and even the Queen, you can rest assured that I will make sure the photography part of your day will be as friendly, relaxed and fun as possible. I am chatty in my approach and usually make plenty of friends on a wedding day! I will enjoy talking with your guests and learn all about them and you, whilst capturing your day.
