On 26th August 2016 the very lovely Charlotte and Darren tied the knot at St Olaves Church York, followed by a celebration wedding breakfast and evening reception at The Hospitium.
Her close friend Louise, whose wedding I was due to photograph later that year, recommended me to Charlotte. And I am so pleased she passed my name along because Charlotte, Darren, their two children, friends and family were all such fun to be around!
The day started early at the Judges Lodgings, York where both the bride and groom were getting ready. Downstairs Darren and his Bestman were getting dressed into their gorgeous suits from TM Lewin which the boys were happy to purchase as the shop was so helpful, especially the manager.
Meanwhile, upstairs the ladies were busying themselves with hair and make-up, whilst the dress hung beautifully waiting for it's bride.

Charlotte's gown was from Bridal Rogue Gallery, Swinegate Court, York. Katriona and Tracey gave the best service.
Charlotte said, "they were so helpful and encouraging and I will really miss popping into see them".
Charlotte's wedding hair was created by Michael Andrew and styled by Alison from his studio. Alison also styled the young bridesmaids and they all looked fabulous.
Charlotte loves flowers, they were so important to her. Apparently all the flowers the bride wanted were out of season, but Fiona, from Fiona Hogg Flora Design sourced them for her. "Fiona's eye for detail was amazing and her design was so fitting, that I trusted her implicitly".
For Charlotte, there was only one way to travel on her fairytale wedding day, in a horse and carriage with her father in his dress uniform, beside her.
Inside St Olaves Church the wedding ceremony was beautiful, with lots of laughter and joy.
And then, just before the end of the ceremony, Darren and Charlotte had their two children christened.
Archie and Poppy were so well behaved. It was a lovely way to end Charlotte and Darren's wedding ceremony!
After the ceremony it was a short trip down to the Hospitium.
While Charlotte, Darren and Archie travelled in style, the rest of their guests, including Poppy had a pleasant walk through the Museum gardens.

The Hospitium looked amazing, both inside and out. It is a fabulous building in a beautiful location.
Inside the Hospitium
Marbeca Bakery made a beautiful cake and Fiona Hogg Flora Designs made some lovely center pieces.
It was all just as Charlotte and Darren wanted.
The weather was stunning, just right for a summer wedding.
The Museum gardens made such a lovely backdrop.
The evening was warm and pleasant and once the gardens were closed, we had the place to ourselves.
That in itself was something special, I don't think I have ever been in the gardens when it was so quiet and so romantic.
It was a peaceful and beautiful stroll around St Mary's Abbey and the Yorkshire Museum.

Then it was time for cake and dancing!
Charlotte and Darren had the most fantastic day and wanted to make sure that everyone involved knew that they loved every minute of their wedding.
And as for the photographer, well, Charlotte says
"Jo was absolutely amazing on the day, calming when things got stressful, organised for when 100 guests needed to be rounded up and she was so discreet.
Jo is so friendly, professional and the quality of her work is second to none! We could not be happier with the result of our beautiful photographs".
"We now consider her to be a true friend and she really was central to our day and pivotal in our lovely memories of our wedding".
