Principal Hotel Wedding Photography//Sadie and Jan

Back in August last year I had the amazing pleasure to capture another wedding one of my favourite York wedding venues. It is always a pleasure going to The Principal Hotel, York.  I know the wedding will run perfectly and the bride and groom will have an unforgettable day for all the right reasons!

And Sadie and Jan's day was no exception.

From the minute I arrived in the bridal suite to capture Sadie, her daughter and bridesmaid getting ready, right through till the first dance and beyond, it was perfect. 

The day was full of tears, both of sadness and of joy. Jan's brother, Cpl Marcin Wojtack who sadly died in 2009, was never far from his mind. There were many references to him through the day and I know all his family were thinking of him. However, the love and happiness shared by everyone throughout the day was truly lovely to see. 

The wedding breakfast was a true celebration, especially when the secret waitresses gate crashed the party! With a great mix of classic tunes, everyone was up dancing and singing and the groomsmen certainly raised the roof with a bit of stripping!

After the food and dancing Jan, Sadie and I took a lovely stroll around the gardens for some portraits.

Then in no time at all the evening party got underway, the DJ did a great job of getting everyone up and dancing and the photobooth was busy all evening.

To capture such a stunning wedding and spend my day with Jan and Sadie was an honour and a pleasure! Thank you to you both for letting me share your day and I wish you all the best for your future happiness as a family. 

On a personal note, I have read the story of Cpl Marcin Wojtak and realised just how special he was. He was a member of the RAF Regiment. He was part of 34 squadron, which is based at RAF Leeming. I was stationed there myself early in 2000 and although I am sure our paths never crossed, I did work with and was friends with many of the guys in the regiment. His family set up a JustGiving page to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund, which is also a charity close to my heart with many of my family and friends from military backgrounds. I wish them all well with their fund raising efforts!
