My second wedding this summer, took me back to one of my favourite York wedding venues. The Principal Hotel with it's Victorian architecture is imposing both inside and out!
I just knew from the first time I met Charlotte and Chris's that their day was going to be something special. They had chosen one of the best venues in town and a top notch group of suppliers to make sure their day was beautiful.
As the bridal party helped Charlotte get into her stunning dress and Catherine Elizabeth did her final touch ups, the boys did their button holes outside in the grounds.
Once Charlotte was ready, we made sure that the first look from her Dad was a wonderful moment for both of them.
I think you will agree that Charlotte looked stunning in her Maggie Sottero gown with a two tier ivory veil.
Now, after a very uncertain year, I am sure everyone was glad that the happy couple had finally made it down the aisle. However, there was one notable absence, Chris's best man. Unfortunately, Martin tested positive for Covid the day before, so had to attend the wedding, virtually!
Wedding ceremonies in the Crown Room at The Principal are always something special. It has beautiful light for photographs and the view across to the Minster make for a great backdrop.
After the ceremony and photographs in the gardens we made use of the inside of the hotel. Charlotte and Chris wanted to make the most of the architecture, especially the chequered corridor. The interiors of this late Victorian hotel are truly amazing.
Now, it's not often that I see new things at weddings, but on this occasion there was something I had not seen before and I loved it! Charlotte and Chris had a new spin on getting their guests to their seats and take a selfie in the process. Guests, firstly had to find their name on the printed seating chart, once found, their seat number was on the reverse. But the important bit was that they now had to take an Instax selfie and replace the seat number with their printed selfie!
I also loved, the mini Gin favours from York Gin!
After the meal it was time for the speeches and Martin nailed it, virtually of course.
Then it was time for the evening function and boy it was going to be epic, with a candy floss machine, a candy cart and a magic mirror there was plenty for the guests to do.
After the newly weds stunning first dance, it was time to party and everyone was ready to go!
Hyde Family Jam, made sure the dance floor was jumping all night!
And then, it was time for the finale, fireworks! Craig and his team from Ardent made sure the display was nothing short of spectacular.
After no party's or live music, weddings or events for over a year, Charlotte and Chris made sure that everyone had the best time, including me! It was such a great day, everything was just perfect.
Thank you Charlotte and Chris for letting me have the best day with you, your friends and family.
