Principal Hotel York Weddings//Charlotte and Tom

Do you remember that really hot day in August? I know, there's been a few recently and all those heatwaves are starting to rolling into one.
Well, on one of them when temperatures were in the high 20's Charlotte and Tom finally got to tie the knot one year after they were supposed to.

Their wedding day was steeped in history and tradition and it could not have gone any better.

In the garden at Charlotte's Parent's house we first got to enjoy the sunshine and I just knew from the minute I arrived it was going to be a wonderful day for everyone. As the ladies got their hair and make-up done, I busied myself with capturing the dress and flowers in the garden. The pagoda was just perfect for displaying Charlotte's dress on! I do love it when a bride leaves from her childhood home, it means that the pictures are even more special.

Once the ladies were ready to add the final touches of make up and have a glass of champagne, I headed off to the church to capture Tom and his groomsmen arriving as well as some of their guests.

Charlotte and Tom's wedding ceremony was beautiful not least because of the relevance of the church on the day. Not only did Charlotte's parents get married
there, but so did her grandparents. Charlotte also wanted to get married in English Martyrs Church because of the amazing length of the aisle!

Charlotte and Tom wanted their wedding to be traditional and I think the choice of black tie for the groomsmen was a fabulous choice.
From the wedding cars, to the florals, to the dress and the church this wedding day was going to be an elegant, timeless event.

As I said the length of the aisle was just wonderful! It is not often that I get so much time to make sure that I capture every step of the bride and her father making their way to the waiting groom at the alter.

This is how to make and entrance!

After a wonderful wedding ceremony full of joy and a bit of laughter, it was outside for the confetti before the bride and groom departed for the wedding reception at The Principal Hotel. Charlotte and Tom had thought of everything and made sure their guest could enjoy the day without worrying about cars by laying on two air conditioned coaches, which in the heat were very welcome!

The Oak room at The Principal Hotel is the epitome of an elegant wedding breakfast room. The room decor in timeless ivory sitting perfectly against the warmth of the traditional oak.

Judging by Tom's face, he was bowled over by the stunning wedding cake!

We did manage to venture into the stunning gardens at The Principal and capture some photographs of the bridal party, as well as some gorgeous bride and groom wedding day portraits. Luckily, with the gardens been so well established we did manage to find a shady area.

One thing I love about The Principal Hotel is it's spectacular late Victorian architecture. The interior never ceases to take my breath away. In my opinion, it is, difficult to find a York wedding venue which offers the backdrop of such splendour for stunning portraits of the bride and groom.

And when all the formalities were finished and after a truly beautiful first dance it was time to party!

I know that Charlotte and Tom had a wonderful day and Charlotte has even commented at the fact that every part of it exceeded her expectations!

For me, I will remember it as one of the most effortless, elegant and timeless weddings I have had the amazing pleasure to capture.
